The USAID/Tanzania Water Resources Integration Development Initiative (WARIDI), led by Tetra Tech in partnership with Resonance and Winrock International, aims to expand access to clean water and improved sanitation for underserved communities in Tanzania.
Annually, thousands of Tanzanians die from waterborne diseases, compounded by a lack of clean water access for over 23 million people. Many areas remain vulnerable despite heavy health budget allocation towards preventable diseases from unsafe water conditions.
In 2016, WARIDI collaborated with Medentech and local water authorities on Aquatabs Flo and Aquatabs InLine solutions in Mvumi, benefiting a community water system serving 13,000 people. Initial trials indicated a significant reduction in water contaminants and a positive reception from the community, with a majority willing to pay higher tariffs for continued water safety improvements.
