Aquatabs tablets contain NaDCC, a stable ingredient which delivers an accurate dose of chlorine to create safe water and also a reserve to keep water safe.
NaDCC is a common abbreviation of sodium dichloroisocyanurate. Na is the chemical symbol for Sodium. NaDCC can also be called Troclosene sodium and Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione.
Troclosene sodium is an alternative name for NaDCC, the active ingredient in Aquatabs tablets.

In a closed container, Aquatabs will continue to protect from the pathogens for at least 24 hours by releasing more chlorine when required.

In terms of performance in making water safe, there is no significant difference. The choice is one of volume of water to be treated and the type of water supply available. Check out our product pages for more guidance.
We have a global network of stockists who can provide Aquatabs products locally. Contact us and tell us where you are and we can provide the details.

Aquatabs are incredibly effective in killing the bacteria responsible for cholera. Independent studies and our own ongoing performance checks validate we kill 99.9999%* of vibrio cholerae in water.

To provide a stronger disinfection dose for instant kill of pathogens, the Aquatabs InLine and Aquatabs Flo use TCCA, or Trichloroisocyanuric acid. As a very weak acid, TCCA delivers the most effective form of chlorine-based disinfection – hypochlorous acid.

* Tested as per US EPA water purifier challenge test.

Log refers to a scale based on an order of magnitude of 10-fold. Reducing the number of bacteria present by 1-log means killing 90% of those present, as only 10% or 1 in 10 remain. Aquatabs will deliver 6-log reduction for many bacteria (killing 99.9999% of those present).
Aquatabs kill microorganisms in water to prevent cholera, typhoid, dysentery and other water borne diseases leading to a 99.9999%* reduction in bacteria, a 99.99% reduction in viruses and a 99.9% reduction in Cysts (Giardia) within 30 minutes, when used in non-turbid water. * Tested as per US EPA water purifier challenge test.

COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) is the official name given to the disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) In accordance with EN14476:2013+A1:2015, Annex A, Aquatabs has a virucidal activity when used as a surface disinfectant. It is therefore effective against Coronavirus when used under clean conditions at a concentration of 500 ppm available chlorine.

SARS-CoV-2 is the name given to 2019 novel coronavirus. In accordance with EN14476:2013+A1:2015, Annex A, Aquatabs has a virucidal activity when used as a surface disinfectant. Aquatabs are formulated using the highest food grade NaDCC. NaDCC’s fast acting, powerful chemistry dissolves in water to release hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and monosodiumcyanurate (a non-toxic biodegradable compound) HOCl is the biocidal agent responsible for killing microorganisms Undissociated HOCl is 100 times more powerful than the dissociated components

  • HOCl has a similar chemical structure to water (HOH)
  • It is similar in size, and it is electrically neutral
  • These factors enable it to penetrate the cell wall in a similar way to water
  • Destroying the proteins and enzyme systems, inactivating microorganisms
